The container throughput in sea-rail transport of Ningbo Zhoushan port during the 10-month period surpasses last year’s total

Since 2020, Ningbo Zhoushan Port had given full play to the advantages of railway transport and achieved a growth counter to the current situation in rail freight volume.

 

Ningbo Zhoushan port saw its container volumes in sea-rail transport increase 22.9 % year on year in the first 10 months of the year. The port’s container volumes exceeded 800,000 TEUs and topped 812,000 TEUs, surpassing last year’s total. The container volumes exceeded 100,000 TEUs in September, which was a year-on-year increase of over 34%, the best ever for a single month. The container volume was expected to exceed 1000,000 TEUs in 2020.

 

The routes connecting the port with parts of China and other countries guaranteed a continuous growth of business.

 

As of October, the port currently has opened 17 railway routes of sea-rail transport. 29 inland waterless ports had been built, with its business radiating to 56 prefecture-level cities in 15 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country. It basically formed three logistics corridors to the ancient Silk Road in the north, the Yangtze River economic belt in central China, and Jiangxi in the south.

 

Ningbo Customs played an indispensable role in the business growth.

Ningbo Customs, by building the “Chongqing–Ningbo plus China-Central Europe” two-way corridor, firstly supporting the “LCL” mode of sea-rail transport, and making use of “iron plus port plus ship” advantages, had comprehensively promoted the leapfrog development of sea-rail transport. Meanwhile, it had implemented paperless customs transit operations, expanded the coverage of automatic customs transit write-offs, and set up a special window for sea-rail transport services, thus making customs transit business available for everyone without coming to Ningbo Customs.
