In recent days, at the blue crab breeding base in Madagascar, Africa, Chinese entrepreneurs cooperated with the famous blue crab breeding technology team from Ninghai to carry out the cultivation of wild crabs and soft shell crabs.

With good ecological environment and geographical advantages, Madagascar is rich in marine resources. However, locals are not keen on seafood such as crabs and shrimps. “Compared to China, where Marine resources are increasingly scarce, this is a good place to raise crabs.” The responsible person decided to boldly try to breed crabs overseas.

“Africa’s blue crabs, coupled with Chinese techniques, can not only develop local species of blue crabs, but also fill the gaps in the Chinese market in winter and spring.” Liu Sheng is optimistic about the future of raising blue crabs. Labor costs are one of the local advantages, adding to farmers’ income by hiring a large number of farmers to do fishing and breeding, said the technical team leader.

In recent years, the town of Yishi focuses on the development of Marine economy, and continues to hit the “Yishi crab” brand. In 2018, the output value of seafood in the town exceeded 300 million yuan, and there were nearly 4,000 aquaculture workers in the town, leading to an income per capita of more than 10,000 yuan.
