Its elaborate metal and iron-work and art reproductions also enjoy high reputation. Florence Biennale, along with Venice Biennale and Milan Triennale, is the major contemporary art exhibition in Italy.

As the centre of world art and cultural heat of Europe, Florence is the home of the Renaissance and operas. Located in the region of Tuscany, it used to be the capital and cultural centre of Italy. Connecting the railways and highways of the north and south of Italy, it is easily accessible by road, rail and air. Crossed by the Arno, Florence has seven bridges spanning the river. Ancient Roman style can still be seen in the city with a number of medieval architectures. Florence boasts over 40 museums and galleries including the internationally known Galleria degli Uffizi and Pitti Palace. Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze, the top art academy in the world, enjoys a galaxy of Italian artistic talents. Apart from these, Florence is also home to colleges, libraries and institutes of art, literature and science.

Ningbo and Florence have been twin cities since September 25 in 2008. Committed to the win-win principle, the two cities have been cooperating closely in economy, trade, culture, education, sports, sanitary, tourism and personnel training. City leaders from both sides have also exchanged views on the development of both cities to promote common prosperity.
