With Thriving County E-Commerce, Cixi Ranks Fourth Nationally

Recently, Alibaba has launched the 2018 Top 100 E-Commerce County, showing that Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Fujian have grasped the top ten posts, and Cixi ranks fourth in the GMV ranking list.

The top ten on the GMV list are Zhejiang’s Yiwu, Jiangsu’s Changshu, Zhejiang’s Yongkang, Cixi, Haining, Fujian’s Shishi, Jiangsu’s Suining, Zhejiang’s Tongxiang, Jiangsu’s Kunshan, and Fujian’s Jinjiang. The three provinces, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Fujian, have not only occupied the top ten, but took 68 posts out of the 100. Also, there are 1,857 Taobao villages in the three provinces, accounting for China’s 58%.

In the light of GMV, the top ten counties rely very much on the 586 Taobao villages behind them, which accounts for nearly 20% of the total. Cixi, in particular, has 78 such villages, while Yiwu, with the help of Taobao villages, ranks first and its GMV is much nearly twice that of Changshu which ranks second.

Inside Alibaba, the poverty-alleviation group composed of rural Taobao, Taobao, Tmall, Cainiao, and Ali Cloud has already begun the upgrading for Taobao villages. In 2018, the number of Taobao villages surges by 1,084, and reaches 3,202, and the annual gross sales volume has surpassed 220 billion yuan.
