Importers in Ningbo greet huge boost

According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, from February 1 on, the importers in China may obtain more convenience while handling procedures for inspection and quarantine approval with the adjustment of the approving requirements for the imported food. Experts say that this new adjustment will serve as the huge boost to the importers in Ningbo and promote the accelerated development of the import trade.

The imported food with high risks must undergo the quarantine approval procedure. According to some national laws concerned, the high-risk imported food include such food of animal origin as meat and meat products, fresh eggs, diary products, aquatic products, edible gelatin, edible animal bones and products, edible birds’ nests, and such food of plant origin as beans, crops and solanaceous vegetables.

Statistics show that in 2017, the total import volume of Ningbo stood at 261.60 billion yuan, up by 37.3% over the previous year. According to a person from Ningbo Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. With the adjustment of the quarantine approval procedure, the importers may greet two kinds of benefits. On the one hand, the kinds of the imported products that can be approved in Ningbo have increased. From February 1 on, the importers can handle the approval of almost all products except salmon and sorghum. On the other hand, the approval period is further shortened. Reportedly, the whole quarantine process, including acceptance, assessment and final approval, will be completed within ten working days, greatly reducing the waiting time of the importers.
