A Shaoxing Opera Daughters’ Dream was put on stage the other day at Ningbo Grand Theater. The opera, which is expected to be performed over 50 times, was jointly produced by propaganda department of Ningbo municipal government and Bureau of Radio, Film, Television and Press of Ningbo municipal government. Daughters’ Dream, which tells us a love story of A Yong and Yue Er, is divided into four parts: Love in Dream, Departure in Dream, Moon in Dream and Marriage in Dream.

The leading actress of the opera is Yin Shuo, who once danced at the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games. Yin and other 80 dancers demonstrated more than 10 different local custom in the opera, including making wine when a girl is born while drinking it when she is married, making beds with extremely complicated working procedures to show off one’s status and so on. In the opera, you can also see such traditional furniture popular in the past as a Daughter’s Mansion, a bed with extremely complicated working procedures and red wooden chest. Besides, there are more than 520 pieces of costume for the eye to take in.

It is said that the opera will be performed in Ningbo Grand Theater for five days and will be performed for more than 50 times in Zhejiang Province and other provinces. It is estimated that the opera will be performed around Ningbo for more than 30 times and about 40,000 people will enjoy the excellent performance brought by actors and actresses.
