The More "Chief Workers" The Better
2008-05-05 07:39:52

The first group of "chief workers" was announced in Shenyang recently. Most of these 20 chief workers, including 4 women are 30 to 40 years old. The youngest is only 26. The highest annual pay of them reaches a hundred thousand RMB. (Reported by China News on Apr.2)

“Chief Staff System” aims to recognize the workers with best professional competence as the “leaders of the staff” and reward them with honor and incentives. It should be made clear that the mechanician are also professionals, who deserve high pay. This system provides the workers of Shenyang with good chance to come to the fore, which is so significant for the change of traditional outlook on human resource and its evaluation criteria.

Nowadays, “mechanician shortage” is become a bottleneck for the development of many enterprises. At present, one of the reasons for China’s backward manufacturing development is the undeveloped production engineering and manufacturing technology. In other word, we are short of skilled technicians. In China, highly skilled people make up 21 percent of workers, while in those economically advanced countries, the percentage is as high as 30. It is not an exaggerated statement that “mechanic deprivation” is become the bottleneck for many enterprises, exercising㎡ a great influence on the updating and upgrading of manufacturing industries.

Recognizing technicians as the “chief workers” and raising their pay will give full play to their initiative and creativity.  In this way, “mechanic deprivation” will be resolved soon.
