6-Hour Working System, Feasible or Not?
2008-04-14 07:28:02

To implement the 8-hour working system for safeguarding the legitimate rights of employees, various measures have been taken by governments at different levels. However, many enterprises, driven by financial gain, ask their employees to work overtime.

When the government, society and people are worrying about the implementation of 8-hour working system, a more impressive working system has been put forward. It is pointed by Mr. Si Jianming, the vice president of Zhejiang University that with the social and economic development, as well as the urbanization, some problems have arisen from the existing 8-hour working system. As these problems have negative effect on the efficiency of working and the quality of people’s life, it is suggested by Mr. Si that a 6-hour working system should be adopted.

This suggestion, in my opinion, is in accordance to the willing of many Chinese people as it helps to improve the working efficiency and the quality of living.

However, any good wish will not come true without the foundation of actual social and economic development. As far as I see, we should not spend too much time on the study of feasibility for a 6 hours working system. Instead, related departments of the governments of various levels should strengthen their efforts and adopt more effective measures to supervising the implementation of the current 8-hour working system.
