According to the report of Chutian Metropolis on January 24, an 11 years old boy named Lakelun carried out artificial respiration for his father serious injured when they encountered a traffic accident in the state of South Australia. After the artificial respiration, he walked barefoot for 3 kilometers in the night to call the police and emergence medical care.
Lakelun learned the first-aid skill in school, which saved his father at the crucial moment. A boy as young as 11 was able to remain calm and unflustered in front of danger, giving first-aid to his father and calling the ambulance. Lakelun’s brave behavior is thought evoking, putting us into the question that what kind of education do we really need to give to our kids.
Although the boy is smart, he will never pick up a skill without being taught. The knowledge and skills he has taught by adults on daily basis. From the life-saving incident, we could see how important the danger-avoiding knowledge is.
Let us cheer for the brave act of Lakelun. There are two points we need to learn from this moving story. First of all, the education of harm avoidance is as valuable as knowledge impart. Secondly, the cultivation of qualities is as important as development of intelligence. Only the parents and teachers grasp and use the right educational concept and technique, can our kids remain calm in front of danger.
