Meaningful Wedding

No vast and lavish banquets, no red paper containing money. Instead, a brief ceremony and heartfelt wish from relatives and friends were seen at a wedding taking place in a Hope Project primary school in Zhujin Town, Jinshan District of Shanghai. The newlyweds turned their wedding into a scene of donation, contributing over 100,000 Yuan saved by the simplified wedding to the Hope Project primary school (reported by Morning News on Dec.10).

In recent years, with the continuous improvement of people’s living standard, weddings of young people become more and more sumptuous. Fleet of luxurious cars, valuable gifts and grand banquets are common occurrence. To some extent, going large and showing off for wedding has become an unhealthy trend in the society, which are heavy financial burdens on the shoulders of the younger generation, their family and, relatives and friends.

In China, there are 10 million new couples each year. If these weddings are carried out in the above-mentioned luxurious way, they will not only become heavy individual financial pressure, but also cause enormous waste to the whole society. If they are done in the same way as the brief ceremony made in the Hope Project primary school, a large amount of money will be saved to do many meaningful things.

The wedding in the Hope Project primary school in Zhujin Town is one of benevolence. Wedding is a big occasion for everyone, which we want to do in a special and romantic way. The traditional luxurious wedding is wasteful while wedding of donation is of great significance, which only contributed considerable amount of money saved to the poor students, but also gave all the guest present chance to donate books, bags and computers to the primary school. The newlyweds enjoyed the love of their lovers, which were lighted by their benevolence.
