Recently, the State Council passed the revised Regulation on National Holidays. It is stated in the revised Regulation that Holiday for International Labor Day has been reduced to 1 day; holidays for spring festival will be from the last day of the previous year to the second day of the new year in lunar calendar; there will be one –day holiday for Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Middle Autumn Festival.

This is a real piece of good news at the end of the year. Amid the warm discussion on the line about the new regulation on national holidays, the stated council passed the it after seeking opinions from various circles. This move shows the government’s working attitude of readily accepting good advice, speed in carrying out human being-oriented reform and the efficiency of decision-making.

This inspiring reform brings lots of warmth to the people. The number of holidays has been increased which gives people more opportunities to rest, travel, and visit friends. Thanks to the more attention paid by the government to the rest right of the people, which is also safeguarded by the Constitution in China, holidays in China have been greatly filled with humanized elements.

Holidays for Chinese traditional festivals including Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Middle Autumn Festival and Spring Festival, can make family and friends get together for more time on one hand, and promote the holiday economy on the other. In my company, some people used to complain remaining working on traditional festivals. Now, they do not need to worry about making cakes on Middle Autumn Festival and making rice dumpling on Dragon Boat Festival.
