Carry Forward The Spirit of Serving The People
2007-11-04 13:56:58

“A closest tie with the broad masses is one of the most distinct differences between Chinese Communist Party and any other party”. This is a sentence from the political report of “On Coalition Government” made by Mao Zedong at the Seventh National Congress in April 24th, 1945. Today these historical statements still keep its directional significance for us to review.

Chinese Communist Party is the vanguard of the working class armed by the advanced theories. Serving the people wholeheartedly, and maintaining close ties with the masses are the most noteworthy differences between Chinese Communist Party and any other party. However, in my daily work, I found that the some party members nowadays are mediocre in the eyes of the people, as those party members do not show the progressiveness of the party in many matters. To some people, the status of being a party member is only an entree to power. They often behave well before joining the party, but fail to remain so thereafter.

As Zhang Xiaoping, one of the Sichuan representatives of the 17th National Congress put it, “Our party is healthy as a whole because most of the party cadres have proved to be integrated and the corruptive elements is only a small fraction. All practices of corruption must be thoroughly investigated without tolerance or lenience.”

The 17th National Congress instills new vitality into the Party like a “cardiac”, upgrading its progressiveness, reemphasizing the tenet of “serving the people heart and soul”. It also helps party members understand that the interests of the people come before everything else. Only by carrying forward the tenet of “serving the people heart and soul”, and dealing severely with corruption, can our party always maintain its vigor and vitality.
