During the National Day Golden Week, over 10 Direction Service Booths were set up at the entrances of main roads in some cities in Jiangsu Province. Drivers from outside were provided with printed maps and updated traffic information for free. It has been reported that over 3000 drivers enjoyed the service.
At Direction Service Booths set by the local traffic police, divers could not only find the specific locations of their destinations but also become familiar with local traffic regulations. An amazing service for drivers was that once they provide names of their destinations and the status of their vehicles, computers would design the most reasonable route automatically.
As the saying goes, “There is no place like home”. Many of the drivers coming to another city for the first time will turn out to be blind for directions, as they know nothing about the traffic information of the city. It often take a long time for them to ask for directions and sometimes a minor mistake often lead to significant waste of time and serious negative effective on their business. The small printed traffic map is no small to those drivers in desperate need of it.
At present, each city pays great attention to its image, claiming to build itself into a city of humanity and city of charm. The image of a city is by no means limited to the width of roads of height of buildings but includes human service of all aspects. Ways direction service provided in Jiangsu serves as a typical example demonstrating the human-centered concept, which was definitely special scenery in the Golden Week.
