To repay the Council of Florence of Italy for the David statue, the Ningbo City Government shall present two replicas of southern-Song-dynasty statues, an official and a general, to Florence. The two stone statues will be 1:1 imitations of the originals Southern-Song-Dynasty Stone Statues Park by the Dongqian Lake. The official statue is 3.3 meters tall, one meter wide; the general statute is 3.6 meters tall and 1.3 meters wide. Both will be made from meiyuan stone. 

    This will be the first time for the stone statues of Ningbo to go abroad. The statues will be an important tokens of cultural exchanges with the world, and thus play a significant role in promoting the Dongqian Lake resort and spreading the history and culture of the city. 

    Currently, discussion about the settlement of the statues in Florence is well underway.
