As an affiliate of Ningbo Education Commission, Ningbo Edult Education School was set up in October 1988 and started operation on December 30th of the same year. Located at No. 44, Baizhang East Road of Ningbo, it covers an area of 13mu and floor space of 8000 square metres.

During the 12 year since its inauguration, the school has delivered 3500 polytechnic students, 500 junior college graduates and college graduates (together with other institutions) who are working in all walks of life. At present the school is offering 64 diploma-oriented classes attended by over 2400 students.

Through years of school-running practice, the school has now formed its own characteristics: 1. Join hands with partners in school operation. In this regard, the school fully utilizes its own teaching base and at the same time extends its operation to other regions and district. So far the teaching operation of joint effort with partners has extended to as much as 24 organizations in 11 counties (county-level cities) and districts. It has established long-term cooperation with such institutions as Hangzhou Electronic Engineering Institute and Zhejiang Broadcasting and TV Polytechnic School. Within this year, the school is to start an online education program in joint effort with Fudan University to launch full-time and part-time classes for bachelor- oriented junior college students. 2. Run schools at multiple levels and of multiple pattern to develop systematic education service. Since 1993, the school has set out to create conditions for running higher education. The current teaching profile encompasses the courses in polytechnic schools, junior colleges and universities and postgraduate schools, and the choices of student attendance cover full-time, part-time and teaching by correspondence. 3. Provide novel and up-to-date majors for students so that the graduates may attract wide public attention and acclaim. At the initial stage, the school offered only 3 majors. New majors were constantly added later to meet the social and economic development. At present, the school offers 13 majors including broadcasting & news study, CAD, financial accounting, computer application, fashion design, marketing, two of which are most favoured majors (broadcasting & news study and CAD ). These novel majors have always enabled students to be better positioned for employment competitions.

At the beginning of new century, the school shall move upward to focus on higher education and advanced technical training. It shall strengthen cooperation with all walks of life including institutions of higher learning to cater to all social sectors in an all-round manner, with the ultimate objective of becoming a multi-regional and multi-functional base for education.
