Haishu Central Primary School, formerly named Xinyin Private School, was set up in 1906 and later named Fuqiao Street Primary School and No.1 Central Primary school of Haishu Distrct. In 1984, it assumed its present name of Haishu Central Primary School. In 1995, with concern from government at all levels and all walks of life, and financial support from Ms Wu Jianming, the school was relocated and rebuilt. In 1996, the new school was put to use, hence also the name of 'Wu Jianming Foreign Languages School'. It operates under two names but with one organizational establishment. On Mar 22nd , 2000, it became a State-owned and locally run school.

The school covers 14257 square meters, with a floor space of 15452 square meters, furnished with first-class educational facilities in Ningbo. It has 30 classes, 73 staff members, including 72 full-time teachers, among whom two are senior teachers and one who received national training for backbone teachers. There are one key teacher of the Ningbo education circles, two promising young teachers of provincial level, 25 excellent young teachers of municipal level, 5 discipline leaders of municipal level, 3 distinguished teachers of district level and more than 50 teachers having junior college or higher degree. With an excellent teaching staff, the teaching quality of the school has been among the top ones of the city over the decades.

With a long period of teaching experience and the effort of generations of outstanding headmasters and teachers, the school has accumulated rich cultural resources and formed its own teaching characteristics as well as its teaching policy of "High quality, Strict Requirement, Various Specialties". As a result, it is now a highly reputed school enjoying trust from the students' parents and society as a whole. In the near future, the school will expand its campus and enhance it status with new teaching buildings, art education building, and modern teaching research center. In addition to the already built campus computer network, it will build a network connecting homes to the school for online education service. The school will also build multimedia classrooms, Internet classrooms, and electronic reading rooms, and implement modern educational technologies in class presentations.
