Beside the well-known Tianyi Pavilion lies a nursery school named No.1 Nursery school of Ningbo Government Organs. It covers an area of 3800 square meters, with a floor space of 3000 square meters. A nice and cozy home for children, it enjoys the titles of "Exemplary nursery school of Zhejiang province" and "Five-star Nursery School of Ningbo'. The surrounding is nice here with plenty of trees and all modern facilities. The school is also the children's English training base of Beijing Zhongshan institute of the Central Committee of China Democratic Revolutionary Party and the training base for Ningbo Children's Palace and for Cixi Xu Sizhong Maths Wiz Training Center.

The nursery school was set up in 1955. It has always followed the correct guidelines and focused its effort on improving the overall nursing and teaching quality. It aims to improve quality education in order to bring up a new generation with a creative, diligent and brave mind and a good physical constitution. The nursery school has an excellent teaching staff with 100% teachers having junior college or college degree. Many thesis papers of the teachers have won various awards in competitions in the district, in the city and even in the country.

A nursing and teaching model featuring "open education" is being developed through teaching practice and research. The school aims to "make progress through educational research and to develop with its own characteristics". As a result, the nursing and teaching level of the nursery school is improving continuously. It also endeavors to explore new teaching approaches by trying out syllabus system of "bilingual courses + normal courses + art'. Children here also study English, computer and abacus reckoning as regular courses. Other additional courses offered include electronic organ, violin, vocality, drawing, calligraphy, dancing, elocution. As a result of the immense effort made to provide children with a nice learning atmosphere, every year the children from the school have won awards in various art competitions in the district, in the city, and in the country.

The school also sets out to find various channels to better serve children and their parents. It manages to meet the needs of all parents by providing extra service to children such as nutritious breakfast and dinner and weekend duties.
