Established in 1952, Ningbo Jiaoyi Nursery school is an affiliate of Ningbo Education Commission. With a time-honored history and fine tradition, the nursery school is a four-star nursery school of Ningbo.
Located in Jindi Residential Quarter on Liuting Street, the nursery school was put to use in 1999 after being refurbished at the cost of RMB150,000. Within the nursery school there is the nice surroundings of greeneries, esthetic designs and facilities catering to babies, an ideal revenue for pre-school babies. Complete with modern teaching facilities, the nursery school has spacious, bright and neat classrooms bedrooms, washrooms, cloakrooms, computer rooms, libraries, science rooms, building block rooms, art rooms, all catering to babies, plus a 150m2 multi-function room and a 120m2 multimedia classroom. Each classroom is equipped with closed circuit TV, wired broadcasting system and air conditioning system. In the open there are the 1000m2 playground and 6000m2 lawn, plus the novel and safe fun facilities as swimming pool, 30m plastic runway, climbing wall, polo pond and Disney bouncing castle.
People here in the nursery school are well aware that the good facilities are a mere physical advantage, and that the quality of staff is of critical importance. Over the last few decades, the nursery school has recruited various nursing and teaching personnel. Both the director and deputy director of the nursery school are senior teachers of nursery school and graduates from junior colleges. They are innovative and values scientific management. The teachers are also highly qualified: of the 14 teachers, altogether 7 have received title of senior nursery teacher, 12 are graduates from junior colleges and 4 are pursuing bachelor's degree. All nursery governesses have qualification certificate or are senior high school graduates. They are all hardworking and innovative, ready to devote themselves to the nursing and education of babies.
Over the years the nursery school has strictly followed is educational principle and respected the mentality development characteristics of preschool babies and attached same importance to both nursing and education. The school features its unique art education, while laying emphasis on personal quality orientation to ensure all-round development. The art education programs here include Chinese painting, cardboard painting, line drawing, paper-cut, embroidery, tear and stick painting and dye-paper painting. These programmes have developed the mind of babies and cultivated their innovative spirit. One thesis entitled Experimental Research on Cultivation of Innovative Spirit in Art Education Programmes for Babies was awarded second prize in the nursery thesis contest of Ningbo and cited as excellent by the annual provincial symposium on nursery. The painting works of babies also frequently won awards at competitions of national, provincial and municipal level. For one example, Xi Hanyu, the baby painter, beat all competitors and won the superior excellence award at an online nationwide children's drawing competition in 2000. His work, entitled Flying Automobile at 2008 Olympics, was among the two best art works donated to Beijing Olympics Bidding Committee. For another example, Jin Yan, the young child, received the Best Work Award at the "Greeting the Return" painting competition for babies and children held in Ningbo and had the honor of visiting Marco together with nine other children. These "young painters" won many honors for the nursery school, testifying to the remarkable achievements in art education of the school.
