| Procedures for Working in China | | | 2005-03-28 10:23:45 | A foreign invested enterprise, which is intending to employ foreigners, may apply for "the work permit for foreigners in the People's Republic of China" at Ningbo Employment Management Service Center (No. 187, Yinfeng Road) with the following documents: company’s application form, business license, letter of employment Intent, certificate of approval for setting up the enterprise, and the foreigners' personal documents including health certificate, passport and two photos.
With the work permit, the enterprise may apply for work visa notification at Ningbo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office (No. 91, North Jiefang Road). The foreigners can apply for work visa to enter into China at the local Chinese Embassy or Consulate with the fax copy of work visa notification and the work permit. After entering China, the foreigners can apply for employment certificate at Ningbo Employment Management Service Center with the following documents: work visa, work permit, employment contract, health certificate and photos within 15 days. With the employment certificate, the foreigners can apply for residence certificate at the Division of Exit and Entry Administration of Ningbo Public Security Bureau.
If a foreign-invested company will hire employees from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the company shall submit its application for the employment certificate for the personnel from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, who shall apply for the residence certificate at the Division of Exit and Entry Administration in Ningbo Public Security Bureau.
Agents in Ningbo, which provide service to foreign enterprises for establishing representative offices in Ningbo, can apply for work permit and then for work visa notification for the chief representative and representatives on behalf of the foreign enterprise. With the work visa notification, the chief representative and representatives may apply for work visa at the local Chinese Embassy or Consulate. Upon entering China, they shall apply for employment certificate and residence certificate in the similar way at the same institutions in Ningbo.
