Yinzhou District covers an area of 1,380 square kilometers with a population of 730,000. The whole area in the shape of a dancing butterfly is the largest and strongest among the districts under the city's jurisdiction. The local government outlines a bold scheme to build Yinzhou into a zone featuring a robust economy, an eco-oriented town, a higher education park and a tourist attraction in the new century.
Yinzhou District has a thriving economy characterized by big input and big output. It is home to more than 15,000 industrial organizations. Its industrial network is supported by six arms including light textile, garment, machinery, electronics, automobile parts and food. Its overall economic strength dwarfs most of its equivalents in China. GDP:In 2002, its GDP reached RMB 19.245 billion yuan. Fiscal Revenue:RMB 2.7 billion yuan in 2002, ranking No. 2 among Zhejiang's counties and districts. GDP per capita:USD 3,152 in 2002. Foreign Trade:In 2002, its imports and exports totalled USD1.822 billion, 1437 million from exports. Foreign Capital Use:At present, the district is home to 761 foreign businesses with a contractually used foreign capital of USD725 million and actually used foreign capital of 436 million. Over 760 foreign-funded enterprises have been established in Yinzhou District including Marubeni, Itochu, and Daiei from Japan, TRW, Borgwarner and Coca-Cola from U.S., and Metro from Germany etc.
Yinzhou will carry on its strategy for economic development ,opening to all businesses as its heart.Efforts will be made to made to launch greater promotions for massive organizations of precision machinery,information technology, textile & garment, automobile parts and high-tech as well as the tertiary industries like tourism and commerce. Yinzhou Industrial Zone, Mingzhou Industrial Zone and Wangchun Industrial Zone respectively situated in the east, south and west of the district make of the three major strategic blocks for the industrial economy development in Yinzhou District. With a total planned area reaching 130 sq.km., the industrial zones provide expansive back land and strong support to a new round of sustainable development in Yinzhou District.
