The main responsibilities of Ningbo Municipal Administration of Industry and Commerce are:

1. To organize the implementation of laws, rule of law, regulations, guidelines and policies of the state administration of industry and commerce; to study and make policies of industrial and commercial administration of the city; to be entrusted to draft out related local rule of law and regulation draft of industrial and commercial administration and organize their implementation after being discussed and passed.

2. To organize and administer the registration of enterprises of all sorts including foreign funded enterprises, units and individuals engaged in business activity and permanent delegate agency of overseas enterprises according to law; to check the name of the registration unit; to examine, approve and issue related certificate and license, and execute the supervision and management over them.

3. To organize the supervision over market competition; to investigate and prosecute monopoly and unjust competition; to crack down such illegal economic activities as smuggling, traffic, multi-level marketing and disguised multi-level marketing in circulation field according to laws, rule of law and regulations.

4. To organize the supervision over market transaction according to law; to supervise and administer the commodity quality in the circulation field; to organize investigation and prosecution over such activities as counterfeit and fake; to accept and deal with the "12315" consumer complaint; to protect the legal rights and interests of the operators and consumers.

5. To conduct normative administration and supervision over market operation order of all sorts according to law.

6. To organize the supervision over brokers, broker agencies and exhibitions.

7. To conduct administrative supervision over economic contract according to law; to take charge of administrative mediation over contractual disputes, the chattel mortgage registration of enterprises and management; to supervise and manage auction activity; to investigate and prosecute such illegal activities as contractual cheating.

8. To supervise and manage registered trade mark and trade mark printing activities according to law; to investigate and prosecute infringement activities like registered trade mark counterfeit; to protect the patent of registered trade mark; to organize the recommendation of famous brand names; to guide the work of trade mark agency.

9. To examine, approve and supervise all kinds of advertisement according to law; to investigate and prosecute illegal advertising activities.

10. To supervise the operation of all enterprises including foreign-funded enterprises and private enterprises according to law.

11. To lead and administer the sub-administrations of industry and commerce of counties (cities) and districts; to guide the work of associations concerned.

12. To undertake other tasks assigned by the Municipal Government and superior administration of industry and commerce.
